The light in the surau attracted my heart

“At that time… in the year 2000, we still had no electricity here. Only this surau has lights because there is a generator supply.

“Because only the surau has electricity, the light always attracts me to come to the surau and it’s fun because in the surau people are learning to recite.

“So, I always come to surau to see people studying. During school as well, I rarely attended moral education classes, but I attended Islamic studies classes.

“For native people, it is quite difficult to learn the Qur’an, especially in pronouncing the letter ‘ر’.

“Although my parents have not converted to Islam, I am sure they will say the Kalimah Syahadah one day.”

Ustaz Syukri Yahya is one of the most precious gems for the natives of the Temiar tribe at POS Kuala Mu.

Even though he embraced Islam only a few years ago, Ustaz Syukri Yahya’s enthusiasm and determination to learn and spread Islam among the native people in Kuala Mu were very burning.

Ustaz Syukri

As a result of his hard work, Ustaz Syukri Yahya was awarded the 2022 Indigenous Youth Person for the Kuala Kangsar district to appreciate his contribution and hard work.

Most recently, Ustaz Syukri Yahya was awarded the Convert Student Icon in conjunction with the 3rd Convocation Ceremony of the Islamic Religious Council of Negeri Sembilan (MAINS).

Hopefully, with this award, he will be able to further strengthen his spirit and efforts in his da’wah work in Kuala Mu.
