Sekolah Agama Rakyat Al-Ikhlas, Kg Kilugus, Kuala Penyu, Sabah
Sekolah Agama Rakyat (SAR) Al-Ikhlas in Kampung Kilugus, Kuala Penyu, Sabah, was established to provide formal religious education to children in rural areas who previously lacked adequate access to such education.
Before the establishment of this school, children in and around Kampung Kilugus faced various challenges, including the absence of a nearby religious school, limited transportation options, low family income, and restricted quotas in existing schools.
With the collaboration of Yayasan Ikhlas and the Majlis Dakwah Negeri (MDN) Sabah, SAR Al-Ikhlas was developed to benefit seven surrounding villages.
Phase 1
Pre-Construction Phase
- Community interviews and needs assessments were conducted to determine the necessity of building the religious school. Approval was also obtained from the land donor for the school’s construction.
Phase 2
Construction Phase
- A appointed contractor was supervised by Yayasan Ikhlas officers, with construction commencing in July 2022. The school was designed with a modern and contemporary style and was completed within seven months.
Phase 3
School Opening Phase
- Infrastructure and classroom essentials, such as fire extinguishers, desks, and whiteboards, were installed. The school obtained the Certificate of Fitness (CF) in 2023, ensuring it was ready for use.
