YAYASAN Ikhlas, a Peduli & Prihatin NGO organization has implemented a microeconomic project by gathering 20 asnaf women and single mothers in collaboration with Masjid Ibrahimi, Mukim Wakaf Raja, Gaal, Pasir Puteh, Kelantan.
The project that started in 2019 until today targets job opportunities for women who have no source of income or have a very low income. Each participant receives a minimum salary payment of RM 1,200.00 as a result of the sewn products.
Among the products they have sewn are personal protective equipment (PPE) used by front-line personnel during the Movement Control Order period, sewing school clothes from local distributors, orders for Raya shirts, kaftan fabrics from Mydin HQ, PASTI shirts, and sports jerseys.
These participants were sent to Giatmara Selinsing for training for 18 days, practicing sewing three types of clothes, namely school uniforms, school uniforms, and men’s trousers. In addition, five people from participants were taken to the clothing industry factory in Damansara Damai for 3 months to obtain information and exposure to the concept of the fabric industry in Malaysia.
Puan Rohmaniah or better known as Ummi has given new hope to single mothers here. When their husbands die, they rely on the help of JKM allocations every month. Even though it was not enough, they had to face and ask for other donations from the mosque and others.
But when there is this project, they feel that a blessing has come down to them. Feeling helped with guidance, given the knowledge of sewing skills and help to get customers to help them.
Puan Fatihan, one of the Project Management Division of Mukim Waqf Raja stated that this effort is very good. Now it has established a marketing and sales department so that we can produce more products.
